Pocahontas Inspired...

Every Makeup Artist is in love with color, and when artists are given the creative freedom to play with all the vibrant hues we can dream of... well, we're in Makeup Heaven. Here is a sneak peek of the Fashion and Beauty Editorial I did for Disfunkshion Magazine.

Models: Michaela Rabinov (below as our Indian Girl) and Briana Acosta, both from Premier Models and Talent. Key Hair & Makeup: Jessica Hoffman. Assistant Hair & Makeup: Rhiannon Mariani. Stylist & Photography: Hugette Montesinos.

For Disfunkshion Magazine on location at Sandy's Beach, Hawaii.

What? You think we'd give it all away?! You'll have to wait for the magazine to come out to see all the colors I used- turquoise, orange, purple, red, yellow and neon hot pink. It was ravishing, if I do say so myself.

Until then... here's a lil something I 'colored' on our other model, Briana Acosta after we wrapped. Before we took all her makeup off, I asked her if I could add some red... here it is!

I used MAKE UP FOR EVER flash pigment.

URGENT: Vote for my Cavalli Inspired Makeup Tutorial

If you would like to support me and help make my dreams come true... then feel free to watch this video and vote on youtube.com by clicking LIKE LIKE LIKE!!!

Love ya! Enjoy!

This is my submission for the NYX Cosmetics FACE Awards competition! I often attend Fashion Week and as I was browsing through all the beautiful images of the makeup backstage, I fell in love with the Roberto Cavalli look and thought- YES- this is the look I'll recreate for NYX!

Of course I had to change it a bit to make it my own, and I enjoyed every minute of it! I hope you enjoy it too and pick up a few ideas!

Thank you to my beautiful model, Eva Avery! I just love doing makeup on her pretty face.

Supermodel Lily Donaldson rocked this look on the Cavalli runway, and because she has such large, deep set eyes... it looked genius on her. I would love to create a look like this for Lady Gaga... you know, something fresh and feminine but colorful- in a water color sort of way. This look is romantic and bold all at the same time.

More videos and tutorials to come. I have definitely caught the beauty vlogger bug :-)

Dolly Mix

So class... today we'll be using our palettes that usually sit closer to the bottom of our makeup kits. Today we get to play, blend, and explore the endless possibilities of color, color, color! Here's a peak at the makeup madness, otherwise known as our work space. My Makeup & Hair Assistant was Jen Paelmo, who was a perfect fit to my cheerful & vibrant set. Photographer, Zack DeZon captured the beauty of the makeup on our three picture perfect models- all of whom are from Major Model Management- Christina, Kelly & Amanda. To document it all- from the getting ready & all the makeup changes to the girls working the camera and the occasional dance break in between shots- was videographer, Kathleen Hennessey. So pull out your pen and paper, get ready to take notes and enjoy the images below.

Organization is key. I love my quad roll up makeup case. (Purchased at Ricky's in NYC.)

Palettes are a makeup artists BFF, so many options right at your fingertips! (And it lightens your kit).
Makeup Forever's Color Pigment Palette was used for nearly every look at today's shoot. It's a must have.

Meet the exquisite Christina Vorobets from Major, NY, who rocked this dual colored orange lip with 1920's brows over her naturally groomed eyebrow. I used the Makeup Forever palette on her brows, eyelids & lips.

Miss Kelly Gervais in blue. Yes, even in sky blue lips she looks gorgeous. My inspiration for the blue used on Kelly, comes from my new & wonderfully talented NYC makeup artist friend, Stephanie West.

Major beauty! Our 3 lovely dolls looking like mannequins. Just wait till you see the final product in DISfunkshion Magazine in an upcoming issue.

Until then... class dismissed.

Blessings,
Jessica

High Voltage

With this electrifying color collection, you'll be sure to ignite some excitment where ever you're bold enough to wear this HIGH VOLTAGE look! Maybe it's only in the studio, like our model, Kayko... or maybe you're the dare devil of your friends and would be willing to convert this look into something you'd wear to a concert or fashion event... My advice, go for it! Just remember with this high powered look, the lips play a supporting role and should be kept light and juicy (except when we're in the studio, we plug rhinestones onto them!) ... you wouldn't want to blow a fuse!
